Eco-friendly flooring: Top 8 trends to watch out in 2022

The time has come! 2022 is almost here and it’s time to remodel your home with the hottest flooring solutions. However, if you are environment-savvy, just like me, then you may find it difficult to create the space you have always dreamed of.

The good news is that you don’t have to worry anymore. This blog post is all about sustainable flooring solutions that are going to rule the flooring industry in 2022 and beyond. Let’s begin:

Eco-friendly is the new flooring trend

Flooring is often a challenging thing to decide since it comes in different types, forms, shapes, materials and prices. When it comes to sustainable flooring, gone are the days when the options were limited. Thanks to the latest technological advancements, buyers have an array of choices, ranging from engineered wood to natural stone tiles

Sustainable flooring makes use of eco-friendly materials that look ultra-chic. This is an added bonus for environment-conscious people who believe in opting for sustainable solutions. However, it’s not easy to choose the right one from a plethora of eco-friendly options. To assist you in your journey, we have compiled a list of the hottest sustainable flooring solutions for 2022. Some are new, some are old and a few will blow your mind. Have a look:

Sustainably harvested hardwood

Hardwood is timeless, classic. It’s all-natural, durable, cosy and eye-pleasing, making it the most sought-after flooring material in the world. But if you want to make sure the flooring product you choose has a positive impact on the environment, then invest in certified hardwood products that are sourced from responsibly managed forests. Be sure to verify your hardwood floor is ethically and sustainably obtained.

Bamboo flooring

Bamboo is the perfect example of sustainable flooring. Although it often resembles traditional plank wood flooring, bamboo is much harder than oak and maple. On top of that, it expands and contracts less than hardwood, making it extremely durable and tough.

The best thing about bamboo is that it is a type of grass, not a tree. It is obtained from six to seven years old plants, generally available in a variety of colours, ranging from darker tones to natural light tones. Remember, carbonised bamboo isn’t as long-lasting as stained bamboo. So, try to invest in stained bamboo flooring.

Cork flooring

Cork comes from the bark of the Mediterranean oak tree, which regenerates itself in eight to twelve years, making cork flooring a sustainable solution. Some flooring experts even use recycled industrial materials, such as scraps from wine stoppers.

Cork flooring is available in both tiles and planks and provides nice cushioning and insulation. Also, it’s a great option to reduce noise and maximise comfort in the busy areas of your house, such as bedrooms, dining halls and living rooms. Be sure to keep it away from moisture-prone areas.

Natural linoleum

People often think of vinyl when they hear the word linoleum. Yet, the two aren’t relevant to each other. Vinyl is a synthetic material, whereas linoleum is organic. Though natural linoleum isn’t new to the flooring industry, it was left behind after the introduction of vinyl. As manufacturers, engineers, architects and designers are asking for it again, it is going to re-emerge with a great force in 2022.

Reclaimed hardwood

If you love rustic and vintage flooring, reclaimed hardwood is your thing. It is a popular choice in all sorts of buildings and decor motifs. Why? Because hardwood isn’t the best choice for people like us, who are environmentally conscious.

However, reclaimed wood is different. It is obtained from old wood, instead of a new one. It has the same aesthetic appeal as hardwood and can last for years when you take good care of it. In addition to being eco-friendly, reclaimed wood is pocket-friendly too.

Engineered hardwood

It’s cost-effective, eco-friendly and beautiful; there’s nothing like engineered hardwood. In fact, it’s more sustainable than its hardwood counterpart because of the way it’s manufactured. Engineered wood is produced by attaching a hardwood veneer to a plywood core, leaving more area to use the tree.

Natural stone tiles

This one is quite an obvious one – natural stone tiles. As the name implies, these floor tiles are totally natural. They are highly durable, extremely comfortable and easy to maintain. Plus, natural stone tiles won’t emit toxic gases, unlike white subway tiles.

However, their place of origin might become a concern for you. This is because some natural stone materials are mined on a large scale, which can leave a negative impact on the environment. Thus, it’s better to ask your local flooring expert about how they obtained natural stone tiles in Melbourne.

Glass tiles

Have you ever wondered what happens to the beer and wine bottles that are recycled?  They get converted into glass tiles. Yes, tiles! These bottles are a good renewable source for manufacturing floor tiles that are great for bathroom and kitchen walls. Glass tiles have eco-friendly characteristics and are non-absorptive, stain-resistant and easy to clean. Unlike terrazzo tiles, glass tiles reflect light, adding additional light to the room. Plus, they come in a wide range of colours, patterns and finishes.

There you have it – a list of eco-friendly flooring solutions for 2020. Which one is your pick and why? Do let us know in the comments below.

RV Entertainment For The Whole Family

More families than ever are hitting the open road and heading to RV parks and campgrounds this summer. Recreational vehicles provide a great way to travel during a pandemic, and these families are making the most of RV parks and amenities as they travel across the United States and other countries without the need for close quarters in hotels. If you and your family are considering a road trip this year, there are a few things to consider before packing your bags and filling those tanks. For RV entertainment ideas for the entire family and kids at every age, to destinations and bigger plans, read on.

Solid Travel Plans

One of the best ways to ensure the entire family will have a great time on your next road trip is to make a reservation for a space at a premier RV park. With amenities like Wi-Fi, community meeting spaces, fire pits, playground options, laundry facilities, and more, these parks offer something for all ages. Set up much like campgrounds in many cases, RV parks are a great way to meet like-minded travelers and locals, too.

In 2021, the RV industry is booming, and with more families than ever traveling in recreational vehicles, it’s important that you make reservations at any destination. Even if you hope to take advantage of a free campsite on public land, you’ll want to call the state park or forestry service to check about Covid-19 rules and regulations ahead of time. Being prepared will mean a better experience for all and ensure that you have a great place to stay.

Games for the Road

When traveling with kids and toddlers, it’s a good idea to pack toys they can pull out on the road. Consider toys like magnetic blocks and trivia cards to keep kids of all ages entertained during your travels. Some parents have great luck with downloading kid-friendly apps on tablets and other devices for children on the road. A great way to keep kids occupied is by having a combination of electronics and toys they can play with will make your drive time more peaceful.

Regardless of where you go, it’s likely you’ll have days where the weather’s not optimal. Think about planning for indoor days where kids can make puzzles, crafts, and enjoy activities away from the TV. For those sunny days, be sure to bring swimming tubes, life jackets, sunscreen, umbrellas, and picnic baskets. The better you pack ahead of time, the more likely it is that everyone will have fun on the trip.

When planning a trip with kids, one way to help them get excited is to ask them to help pack their favorite items. By allowing each kid to bring a favorite toy, stuffed animal, or blanket, you’ll be giving them packing and planning skills they can use in the future should they decide to become travelers.

Reading for the Road

The same way you’ll want to pick up some books for the kids during travel time, it’s a good idea to think of your own interests. For many people, RV travel allows them to get closer to nature and is a time of spirituality. These travelers often pick up prayer books or head on over to their favorite Catholic book publishing company for reading material for any trip.

Maybe you’ll be spending a month boon docking by a national park. Few things could be as peaceful as reading a favorite book as the sun rises or sets. When thinking about reading materials for you and the rest of the family, consider magazines and travel guides, too. You might be surprised how many tips you can pick up in a travel guide of the area you’ll be traveling to.

Making Memories

If your plan is to spend time with your family on the road, the reality is that you’re probably looking forward to creating memories together. If making memories is at the top of your bucket list, think about investing in quality digital equipment like cameras, drones, and more to capture your favorite moments. Whether your ultimate plan is to create a trip video to upload to YouTube or you’re hoping to make a scrapbook of your trip, having high quality pictures to look back on will help make those memories stick.

When planning an RV trip for the entire family, consider each individual person’s interests. Maybe you have one child who loves nature and another with a specific interest in aliens. By finding places to encourage both interests, you’ll be more likely to keep the kids engaged. As you plan your trip, don’t forget to consider your own needs and interests, too. Many people make the mistake of leaving their own interests and passions out when planning a trip with family.

At the end of the day, if you take the time to consider each member of your family’s interests, unique destinations, entertainment for driving days, and more, you’ll be in a better position to enjoy your RV adventures even more. Happy travels to you and your family! Don’t forget to take pictures.

Process of pool installation, Step wise

The following is a step-by-step guide on installing your swimming pool, from start to finish. When you meet with one of our designers for a free consultation and estimate, they may go through each stage in further detail.

The pool designer will then take the information you provided and create a drawing of the pool in the area you specified on your property.

Layout & Excavation

This is the first step in the construction of your salt water pool The layout as well as the excavation are completed on the same day. The  construction manager and excavation crew will meet with you to plan the pool’s layout. They will begin excavating the pool after you have approved the location and elevation of the pool. This day will be used to remove any surplus soil that cannot be graded into the yard.

They will simply remove soil from the yard at this time. The location of your filter equipment and light junction boxes will also be confirmed by the construction superintendent. If you haven’t finalised your coping and tile choices yet, you’ll need to do so now to avoid any delays in  construction process. This is the day that your excavation instalment is due.

Steel Reinforcing

This is where your pool’s support structure is built. Our gunite shell gains structural strength from the steel setting. Once the steel is installed, the township will be contacted for a building inspection and a partial bonding inspection.

It is at this point that the pool’s shell is constructed. For this part of the project, we’ll need to use your outdoor water supply. You may be required to stay for a few moments to approve the placement of any benches and your steps. This is also when the gunite instalment is due.

The pool plumbing and filter equipment will be installed and pressure tested on this day. This step does not require your presence because the equipment and light junction boxes were installed during the layout and excavation. If an electrician and a gas plumber are required, you are now ready.

Coping and Tile

It is now that you will see that your saltwater pool is getting finished. Your raised wall’s coping and tiling, as well as, if necessary, the facestone, will be installed. You do not require to be present for this stage once again.

Electric and Gas

The electric and gas lines must be connected after the pool filter equipment has been installed.

The decking installation can be planned after the electric and gas connections have been examined.

If you hire your own decking contractor, it is your decking contractor’s job to ensure that the decking is not completed until all necessary inspections have been conducted, such as gas and electric trenches, and bonding. It is also your concern that the installed decking does not surpass or impact on any township setbacks or limits and that the amount of decking does not exceed any lot covering totals. Backfilling any ditches that may be in the way of installing the deck is the responsibility of whoever is performing the decking.

It’s also crucial that the decking system, concrete, or pavers have adequate expansion, with at least a 12″ x 4″ ethafoam expansion connection between the deck and the pool coping and shell. If you don’t get this installed, you risk damaging your pool’s coping, tile, and gunite shell, which won’t be covered under warranty.

After the decking is finished, the fencing around your saltwater pool should be built. They can’t start filling your pool until the permanent fence is in place due to local building laws. They request that one portion of the fence be removed so that They can access the saltwater pool to plaster it.

This is the right time to start planning your pool party. This is the last step in the saltwater pool construction process. We leave the pool to fill with your water supply after the plaster is done. DO NOT end the water from filling the pool during the filling phase. Where the water was turned off, a stain or ring may appear on the pool plaster surface. Stop filling the pool after the water reaches the centre of the tile and call the office to schedule the start-up. This is the moment to pay for the plaster.

10 Tips for Moving to a New State

Moving out of state is exciting, but it can also be hard. When you buy a home out of state, you can expect to pay more to move and jump through extra hoops. If you’re moving to a new state, here are 10 tips to help you out.

Sell Your Current Home

You know you want to get out of your current state, which means if you own a home, you’ll need to sell it before moving (unless you plan on being a snowbird) – because we’re assuming you’re moving to a warmer state. Although traditionally selling your home can be a long drawn out process, there are new home buying companies that will provide you with an offer on your home, generally within less than one day.

Make a plan

First and foremost, you need to have a plan before you move out of state. Plan out specific dates, including the date you plan on starting your move and the date you need to start your new job when you get settled. Another big part of this is planning the drive to your new home, know the route you want to go so you don’t get lost, have the GPS setup and many of those also inform you of any construction sites along the route.

Downsize (Get rid of Stuff!)

Throwing things away is hard, but it’s a great way to simplify your out-of-state move. Put anything that may not fit in the moving truck up on OfferUp or Facebook Marketplace to offload old furniture, large tables, bed frames, and other items you might not need or want to move to save time on your move – and also make a quick buck to help with moving expenses in the process. Once you get to your new house, you’ll know what items you will need to purchase that didn’t make the cut.

Finding a house and a job

Before you move to another state, make sure you’ve got a house and employment secured. The last thing you want is to be stranded in a new state with no job or no place to live, so get that figured out before moving. If you’re stressing about finding a job, head over to a job site like Career Monster or Indeed – you can upload your resume and blast it out to a large number of companies that are hiring in your new state.

Moving Truck Rental or DIY

You can rent a truck and move on your own, or you can use one of the several out-of-state moving services. While you’ll typically save money by moving everything on your own, you can save precious time by hiring movers or using a moving storage container. Companies like Penske and U-Haul rent moving trucks for one-way moves, which will allow you to make the move and not have to return the truck back to the original rental facility.

Make a budget

Moving can get expensive fast, so make sure you have a budget you can stick to. A budget keeps you from spending too much money during the move, which means you’ve got enough for bills and other moving expenses.

Pack an emergency bag

You never know when you’re going to need a first aid kit, hygiene items or food and drink when you’re on the road. Pack an emergency bag with all the essentials, that way you’ve got what you need even if you have to spend a night in your car.

Getting a new license

When you move to a new state, you have to get a new driver’s license. Take care of this as soon as possible to avoid tickets and ensure you have an ID with a current address.

Update addresses & accounts

Speaking of addresses, you’ll need to do a change of address on any accounts that have your old one. It may be easier to make a list of all the accounts you need to update, that way you can simply check them off your list.

Keep your receipts

Moving expenses can be written off on your tax return, so keep all your receipts so you can write them off at the end of the year. If you’re not interested in tax write-offs, keeping your receipts isn’t a priority.

If you need help finding your dream home or moving out of state, there are lots of resources that can help. Make sure you take advantage of all the available resources to make your next move as simple as possible.

Not only this but the palace is surrounded by beautiful gardens and has a nice tea shop. As such, this makes for a great day trip and great inspiration for your own home.

There is such a huge array of trends that come and go in the realm of decorating your property and as such it can be difficult knowing exactly what you should be doing. If you are looking for some inspiration, visiting historical houses can be a great way that you can work out what you want to do moving forward.
